HEALX is using 3D scanning and printing for customized manufactured wrist braces for immobilizing musculoskeletal injuries.

A Reddit User, 3driven or in reality, Paavo Pirhonen of Helsinki, Finland, is a radiographer and electrical engineering student, broke his fifth metacarpal of hand after colliding with a car while cycling. He 3D Printed his own custom brace using Autodesk Inventor Professional 2016 and then 3D printing with PLA which he could remove daily, wash it and even go for swimming wearing it. The doctors were okay with it and he has now shared the design on Thingiverse.

Duke University Football Team’s star quarterback, Daniel Jones, fractured his clavicle on September 8^th, when Clark Bulleit and Kevin Gehsmann, seniors of team started working on Custom-Fit 3D Printed Wrist Brace for Jones, finally creating nine prototypes altogether, using a basic 3D printer before turning to a PolyJet printer for the final product. The 3D Printed Brace prevents damage to the initial fracture point and helped Jones return to the field.
