Two years ago, BASF and Poietis signed an agreement regarding the3D printing of skin for cosmetic purposes. BASF wanted to use Poietis 3D laser-assisted bioprinting technology to further develop its Mimeskin tissue. The technology works on focusing a laser on bioink, which causes droplets of the ink to fall onto a substrate seeded with cells. The use of this technique eliminates the need for testing the products on animals.
