Researchers at the Marriston Hospital, Wales recently unveiled ADEPT [Additive-manufacture for Design-led Efficient Patient Treatment] project in surgeries to reconstruct jaws affected by cancer. The hospital claims that its technique is the first of its kind as it combines bone graft with 3D printed titanium implants. Surgeons uses a piece of fibula from patient’s leg to replace sections of jaw that have been damaged.
